Eligibility & Application Process

Eligibility Requirements for Homesharers:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Preparedness to undertake a Homeshare arrangement for a minimum of six months
  • Willingness to undertake the application process.  This includes providing two character references and applying for a ‘Working with Children & Young People Check’ (Blue Card Application and Request for Yellow Card Exemption) – please see
  • Acknowledgement of the time it may take to carry out all assessment and matching procedures.  The application process may take some time.  We will make every effort to ensure that the process is as quick as possible
  • Genuine interest in the lives and experiences of other people, and preferably some experience in building positive relationships with people
  • Capacity to share a persons’ home, including:
    • The ability to communicate effectively
    • Being a mature and sociable person with an emotionally stable and resourceful approach to life
    • Capacity to provide any stipulated personal assistance or companionship
  • Commitment to the underlying values and principles of Homeshare Brisbane North


 Application Process:

  • Complete an enquiry form.  The CLA Housing Worker will contact you within 2 working days
  • When the CLA Housing Worker contacts you, they will provide you with more information and will conduct an initial phone interview if you are interested in any current opportunities or future opportunities
  • A face-to-face interview with the CLA Housing Worker will be arranged.  It is recommended that you complete a ‘Blue Card Application and Request for Yellow Card Exemption Form’ [] and bring it with you to the interview
  • Complete an Application Form at the end of the interview
  • The Housing Worker will check your references and will contact you as soon as possible
  • A meeting with the Householder will be arranged
  • A visit to the property will be arranged
  • You and the Householder will be supported to get to know each other so that both parties can decide whether to go ahead
  • A Homeshare Agreement and a Rooming Accommodation Agreement will be negotiated and signed
  • Tenancy commences for a trial period of 2 months
